Construction is underway in London for a new block of apartments. This required an excavation to create a soakaway, a solution to standing surface water and reducing the risk of flooding.
This was the perfect opportunity for the Altrad Generation Raptor Brace to showcase what it has been designed for, installing frames in tight spaces and creating maximum working room for civil engineers.
The Altrad Generation Raptor Brace is an innovative 300 series brace that is lighter and stronger than the current alternatives available. It is also versatile with no set order that braces/modules need to be placed whilst maintaining its strength. It also has pin joints that are quick to assemble, eliminating the need for nuts and bolts.
The works had been priced up and designed by a competitor, using a 400 series frame, but due to the superior design and strength, time-saving capabilities and the latest steel grades used the customer opted for our Raptor Brace Solution. Our in-house design team created the drawings for the site, and a full kit list for the equipment required.
The dig excavation was 16m long by 3.5m wide and 2.5 metres deep using 1 level of raptor brace frame and 3.5 metre HD2 Sheets.
Utilising the pin and clip system, its been calculated that around 12 man hours were saved on installation. as well as a further 8 man hours saved on removal. Cutting down significantly on hire costs and time that equipment is stored on site. The site manager judged that it would take his team a day and a half to install the alternative frames available. Raptor Brace took them half a day.
The site manager has already stated he wants to continue his relationship with Altrad Generation and has already committed to using the exclusive Raptor Brace again for his next excavation.
