This year, horse race goers have the chance to see Generation on the course in 2017.  Look out for Josh Duffy and his mount, Great Anticipation, who wear the Generation logo.

Twenty one year old Josh Duffy started to ride when he was seven.  To pursue his passion, at thirteen, he found work in a stud and race yard and left school at sixteen was employed as a rider at James Ewart racing in Langholm.

He attended the British Racing school in 2012, and left to finish his apprenticeship at Girsonfield stud and racing, before a return to Langholm to pursue his career.

His first point to point ride was at Alnwick in the 2014/15 season in which he finished 6th.  He followed this up with a series of improved results finishing in 2nd place at Kelso and 4th at both Dalston and Tranwell later in the same year.

In 2015/16 he came near to his first win, pipped to the post for 2nd at Kelso on Hands on Scarlett and in taking 3rd at Hexham.

His ambition is to be the champion novice rider of the season.  With the immediate dream to ride an amateur race at the Cheltenham festival and Foxhunters around the Aintree National fences.  He has a number of rides lined up in 2017 to help him achieve this goals.  The most aptly named Great Anticipation, which he hopes will be his first winner at Alnwick

When asked about his love of riding and the forthcoming season Josh said “I find it exciting and very unpredictable, luckily I have really lovely bunch of horses to ride this year, with the hopes of a winner or two.”
