Members of the Edge Protection team at Generation Hire and Sales were contacted by their client to supply a triple height Edge Protection solution on the works being carried out at Chertsey High School in Surry.
The three-storey building was being built to cater for use by 900 students. The build involved a number of exclusion zones which required triple height edge protection. To ensure the safety of workers Generation Hire & Sale utilised the market leading Rapid post compression fitted post and panel system.
The Rapid post is a telescopic compression fixed unit that offers single, double, triple or full height protection with a minimal number of components; Post, Panel, Clamp. The minimal number of component parts and the nature of its design means a quicker erection and less site labour is involved in the installation.
The unique and innovative qualities of the Rapid post have been proven to be up to 10 times faster than existing drill & fix systems with typically 20 metres being erected in less that 10 minutes.
The Rapid post was a clear fit for the site, as it not only offered the height for the exclusion zone protection, but also allowed for a quick installation process. This process was helped by Generation Hire & Sale providing an initial toolbox talk from one of our skilled field engineers, all part of the supply agreement to our client.
As a result of the edge protection material being such a good fit for the site, this contract achieved an internal Blue Safety Award specifically for the edge protection material provided by Generation Hire and Sales. The Internal Blue Safety Award is not presented to projects very often and remains a hard to attain award. Generation Hire and Sale are extremely pleased to have been granted this award.
As well as contributing to this Blue Safety Award, Generation team members are pleased to have developed a good working relationship with the client and are currently looking at further opportunities to provide Edge Protection solutions after internal recommendations from the client.
