Generation Access, West Drayton, Supply to Lord’s Cricket Ground

| Access | Case Studies

Generation Access of West Drayton was approached to provide an access solution for a high profile client at the Lord’s Cricket Grounds Media Centre. The client was experiencing great problems in finding a solution to fit electrical blinds onto their curved inaccessible glass windows.

Generation Access visited Lord’s Cricket Ground in December 2015 and carried out a detailed specific full site survey. To meet the high standards that Lords Cricket ground required, it was clear that this job needed Generations expertise and the use of their vast range of bespoke Access equipment. After submitting their proposal in late December, Generation Access won the project and also a brand new customer. The job required Generation Access to supply Cantilever Aluminium towers, Stair towers and standard Alloy towers. Once again Generations knowledge and expertise came out on top!

The initial build started with an Alloy tower, the tower provided the flexibility of ensuring the correct configuration and height for the project was obtained. The main Alloy tower structure was built on the platform where the world’s press would normally have their camera and media equipment. Once built this structure was on site for the whole duration of the installation of the electric blinds. The benefits our client experienced from using the alloy tower was that it was quick to erect and was lightweight. This was especially important as the structure had to be moved around and re-secured to complete the job in good time.

The Alloy tower also included a side Cantilever that allowed the workers to protrude outside the normal base dimensions of the Alloy tower; usually used in bridge construction. The Cantilever ensured the workers could reach the difficult to access areas in a safe and secure way and ensured the electric blinds were fitted to a high standard. The cantilever was fitted after first installing the correct amount of kentledge weights required for the tower to ensure its safety.

The total hire time for the structures was 6 months. Hiring was the best option for our client as Generation used their knowledge and expert installation team to create the perfect structure for the job and the client didn’t have to worry whether the scaffold was set up properly; Generations highly experienced trained installation team ensured the structure was completely stable and were on hand to work closely with the client.
