Futuro Scaffold Supports Paddington Regeneration

| Case Studies

Generation partner Framework Scaffolding Ltd were contracted to support the commercial development of 20 Eastbourne Terrace by main contractor Wates.  The prestigious office development provides 92,000 sq ft of office space situated next to Paddington underground, mainline and Crossrail stations.

One of the challenges of the location was its position on a busy main road, close to the main Crossrail construction site, which compounded problems with poor access and the limited space to store equipment.  This meant that scaffolding needed to be erected very quickly on a 60m high structure.

The initial design review highlighted how impractical it was to undertake the project with traditional tube and fittings in terms of labour cost and site location issues.  Framework Scaffolding identified the need to do the project in system scaffold based on forecast speed of erection and dismantling times.

A secondary requirement was to ensure that such a high profile site that neatness of the build reflected the professionalism and capability of the company.

Generation was contacted to support in the supply of ring system scaffold Futuro.  Based on an Imperial system it provides complete compatibility with the Layher system scaffold at a fraction of the cost.  As the largest specifier and supplier of scaffolding Generation are also able to provide full support with financing, design, logistics, hire and sales.

“The Futuro System scaffolding from Generation Hire and Sales was selected for this prestigious project due to its in built safety features, minimum number of components, no loose fittings and speed of erection and dismantle. As a first time user of the product we were delighted with the outputs achieved and would estimate that the scaffolding was at least 4 times quicker to erect and 5 times quicker to dismantle than conventional tube fittings and boards, we would not  hesitate to use the system again.”

Jason Austin – Technical Manager Framework Scaffolding Limited.

As our partner and this project shows Futuro and Generation delivered reducing erection and dismantling times by 400% and 500% respectively to deliver on this landmark project.
