Altrad Training Services; “Getting Kids Into Construction”

| Case Studies

Altrad Training Services is proud to have organised the “Getting Kids Into Construction” event held at the John Charles Stadium in Leeds back in April this year. The event saw over 400 pupils attend from 25 schools within the Leeds and West Yorkshire area.

The aim of the event was to get children interested in construction as a career; an often forgotten about industry within the younger generation. Altrad Training Services wanted to show these young pupils the opportunities that are available within the construction industry.

Jonathan Gaunt, Training Manager stated, “There are lots of opportunities with scaffolding. We feel it is crucial to find new ways to interact with young people to make them aware of the opportunities. It is a safe trade with lots of training and health and safety involved…”.

Altrad Training Services offer the CITB scaffolding apprenticeship scheme, which takes 18 months to complete and is ideally suited for the younger generation to gain the skills and knowledge needed to kick-start a career within the construction industry.

The CITB Scaffolding apprenticeship scheme consists of 11 weeks in the training centre spread across the 18 months. The 11 weeks comprise of 5 two-week courses; Foundation part 1a, part 1b, part 2a, part 2b and finishing with the final assessment week.

Candidates will cover NASC Guidance, British/European Standards as well as health & Safety regulations on route to completing NVQ Level 2 and Diploma Level 2.

All companies who are CITB Levy payers are eligible for training grant aid of up to £6000 per successfully completed candidate with an employer contribution of £995 +VAT per delegate.
